Montréal - Old World Charm and a Unique Modern Style

CAHR 2012 will be held in vibrant Montréal, a city rich in European tradition and a meeting place for citizens of the world. Founded in 1642 as Ville-Marie by Paul de Chomedey, sieur de Maisonneuve, Montréal owes its name to the mountain that Jacques Cartier christened some one hundred years earlier. Proud of its Franco-British origins, today Montréal is the second largest French speaking city in the world after Paris and the most bilingual city in North America. Cosmopolitan and avant-garde, Montréal also ranks third in North America and first in Canada in terms of international conventions. Montréal is truly an experience: old world charm, French joie de vivre and a modern style all its own.

Getting to Montréal

Most visitors to Montréal fly into Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, located 30 to 40 minutes from downtown Montréal. Click here for an area map and directions to the hotel.

Transportation from/to the Airport

By Taxi:

Taxi fares to the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth are approximately $38 each way plus gratuity.

By Express Bus:

Featuring nine stops in each direction, the 747 service will be provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year between Montréal’s central bus terminal (Berri-UQAM metro station) and Montréal-Trudeau airport. There is a stop at the Hotel, corner of Mansfield and Rene Levesque.

Highly anticipated, this shuttle service should fulfill the expectations of airport employees and of the countless people traveling between downtown and Montréal-Trudeau airport. The eight new buses, specially-designed for this service, are easily identified by their airborne look:

Buses on the 747 route are equipped with three luggage racks for the convenience of travelers. The $8 fare is payable in cash aboard the bus - coins only, bills are not accepted. It also provides travelers with a transit pass valid on the STM bus and metro network for the next 24 hours.
